Four people died and 24 were injured when the MV Sea Hauler, carrying 194 passengers to Cat Island for the Emancipation Day weekend, was in a collision with United Star, a much bigger vessel, 20 miles east of Highbourne Cay in the Exumas. The collision caused a loading crane on MV Sea Hauler to snap at its base and land on the four people who were sleeping on deck. Dead are Brenda Smith-Ellis, 40, her sister Brunell Smith, 29, Livingstone Seymour, 38, and Luther Riley, 14. An official enquiry is under way.
