TREASURE CAY GOLF CLUB NEWS

The fourth annual Manager's Golf Tournament was held Saturday 20th March under perfect weather conditions. Sixty-five players competed in the tournament and one hundred attended a cocktail party and banquet at the Spinnaker in the evening. The event was sponsored by Mr Jos Konsten and Treasure Cay Ltd, who provided lunch and dinner. Abaco Insurance Agency donated the insurance for the hole-in-one prize, a new golf cart.

This was the second of two main tournaments held each year by the Treasure Cay Golf Club. All proceeds from these tournaments, along with significant annual contributions from about 60 home owners, are used to improve and maintain the course by hiring consulting agronomists and purchasing the necessary chemicals and fertilizers. Most can remember just a few years ago when there was no grass on the greens and the fairways were covered with weeds. We have come a long way and the club directors want to thank the golfing community of Treasure cay for their continuing generosity, and course superintendent Steve Pedican and his hard working crew for their efforts. We need also to thank the original founders of Treasure Cay for having the foresight to hire renowned architects Dick Wilson and Joe Lee to design and build such a beautiful course.

One of the highlights of the evening was the auction and raffle of two beautiful paintings donated by artist and club member, Harry prior.
