YAHOE'S SAND BAR
There's a new watering hole on Abaco. To be precise, there's Yahoe's Sand Bar on the
southern end of Lubber's Quarters that promises to become the in place for sundowners.
The official opening took place on the afternoon of 29th March with a blast that brought
over a hundred people from Central Abaco and the Cays. Music was supplied by Stone
McEwan and everybody was in a party mood. Chef Hans Hinrichsen and his staff kept
the food coming while barkeep Mark and his crew made sure nobody ran dry.
Yahoe's Sand Bar is named after a mythological Bahamian creature. Ask for the story
when you visit. The building is of a rustic tiki design conducive to casual informality.
Situated by a sandy beach, the large raised deck area catches all those easterly
breezes that cool a summer's evening. A hill protects the bar from the rough winds of
winter. There's a dock for visitors who come by boat, as most will, and there's a
glorious view over to Elbow Cay instead of a distracting television. All in all,
it's hard to imagine a more pleasant and relaxing location to enjoy a cool drink or two.
