TEE-OFF
by Joan Appleton

We started this month with the first round of the Ladies' Championship. This year it was Match play. On the11th March, in addtion to playing the matches, we competed for the lowest putts and Naomi Gettinger and Sylvia Lister tied with 29 each, Leslie Murchy, Irma Prince and I tied with 30 and Fran Ghinghen and Margot Prior each had 31.
Lunch was at Kathy McAllister's with Dorothy Rodgers assisting.

The matches were completed during the week and the final results
were:
Club Champion ------ Margaret Lott
Runner-up ------ Doris Leeker
B Champion ------ Grace Chambers
Runner-up ------ Naomi Gettinger
C Champion ------ Sue Wernecke
Runner-up ------ Margot Prior

18th March saw us gather for a fun day Scramble to be followed by our closing luncheon and prizegiving at the Spinnaker arranged by Lucy Beckwith.

In addition to the above Champions, who received paintings donated by Harry Prior - the runners up were also given prizes. The Ringer Board was won by Doris Leeker and the player who had the least number of putts in a game was Margaret Lott. Jane Clark was rewarded for being the Most Improved Golfer. Thanks were expressed to all those who had worked hard to make the season a success and to Elliot and his staff for the excellent lunches we had enjoyed at the Spinnaker. The Prize Committee members - Dorothy Rodgers, Joanne Erhart and Janice Woodbridge - were also complimented on their good choices.

We will still be meeting on Wednesdays for pick-up games and hope that the ladies will continue to play. We are also looking forward to next season, which we hope hope will be even more successful than this one has been.
