ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey

Never have we seen wind blow so hard nor so consistently as we did these
past ten weeks in Treasure Cay. We were fortunate that the skies were mostly
clear but that did little for those in small boats who were tossed about in
confusing seas or for tennis buffs who had to cling to their hats or for
beach sitters whose books tried to fly. A local wind speed gauge clocked
gusts of 84 mph which is 10 mph above official hurricane strength. We've
had enough, thank you very much. March is supposed to go out like a lamb
not a freight train!

On the sunny side of March, our guests and renters were able to gain that
longed for tan and little ones were able to swim in nicely warmed waters in
our sheltered pools so all was not lost. There were many new faces about
but we enjoyed seeing familiar faces as well. Carol and Bogey Actis-Grande
came from France to share our spring, Joe and Brenda Calihan heralded the
Pittsburgh contingent of Jan and Pete Burchfield, Diane and Don Gerlach and
Cathy and Jim Braham all of whom entertained several of their children and
grandchildren. One highlight was a marvellous engagement party for Diane and
Don's son, Mike who was able to convince lovely Jessica to accept him for a
lifetime amid the cheering support of his family. Congratulations, Mike! and
Best Wishes, Jessica!

Our Royal Palm annual meeting was well attended and we voted to resurface
our aging driveway which should assist the current efforts in Treasure Cay
to spiff up the resort. We are pleased to do our part to encourage this
momentum. Our newly turfed and landscaped roadside is testament to our
sincerity and all of our owners may take pride in their contribution to the
overall impression that is being created.

Seen about 'campus' are Kathy & Bill Draper, Director Jerry & BJ Hill,

Congratulations are in order for Claudia & Peppino Campi who are first time
grandparents of a wonderful boy, Matipa, born to their son Augustino &
Flavia Campi. This reporter had a marvellous two week visit from son, Eric and
Celia along with Guy, Sarah, Jessica and 6 month old, Tace. It's important
to keep one's hand in with bottles and such, you know! And we have other
good news from Lucy and Stuart Stripp in England. Their son, Guy, although
still in hospital and facing more surgery, is out of the woods and doing so
much better. What a blessing. There were many weeks when the outsome was
not certain. We send our very warm regards to the Stripp family who have
had such a stressful time.

The hibiscus and ixora are in full bloom, the pools inviting, the tennis
courts up to snuff and the docks all safely refurbished. Now is a grand
time to come to your home away from home and when you do, please let us know
you've arrived!
