PASSINGS...
LEROY STUART
Funeral services for Leroy Stuart, 80, who passed away on 12th March, were held at
Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sandy Point, on 22nd March. Rev Napoleon Roberts officiated,
assisted by Deacon Morris Bain.
Mr Stuart is survived by two sons - Elvis and Rowland; three daughters - Ophelia Ward,
Raphaletta Thompson and Louise Stuart; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
FLORENCE COLEBROOKE
Funeral services for Florence Colebrooke, aged 85, were held at St Agnes Anglican
Church, Nassau, on 28th March. Officiating were Rev Hugh Chapman and Rev Rodney Burrows.
Interment was in Woodlawn Gardens.
Florence Russell was born in Cave Cay, Abaco, and moved to Sandy Point at the age
of 17. She married Henry Colebrooke of Sandy Point and they had a son, Lorenza Colebrooke,
and a daughter, Frances Pinder; also an adopted son, Bradford Colebrooke. Mrs Colebrooke also assisted in the raising of many other children.
SAMUEL ALFRED SMITH
Funeral services for Samuel Alfred Smith, aged 75, were held at St Matthews Anglican
Church, Nassau, on 3rd April. Officiating were Rev James Palacious, Canon Kirkley
Sands, The Very Reverend Patrick Adderley, Rev Delano Archer and Rev Hugh Chapman.
Interment was in Eastern Cemetery.
Born in Exuma, Samuel Smith came to Abaco as an Agriculture Instructor in the local
schools. He later joined the Ministry of Health and was also employed with Tropical
Shipping.
Mr Smith is survived by his wife, Cynthia; one daughter, Jennifer McPhee; four sons,
Michael, Gary, Ricardo and Rudy; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
MICHAEL G MIAOULIS
The death of Michael G Miaoulis, 69, in Tarpon Springs on 20th February was recently
announced. Mr Miaoulis was the founder and owner of Debbie's Fashions on Bay Street,
Nassau. He was also one of the founder members of the Miss Bahamas Beauty Pageant.
Mr Miaoulis is survived by one daughter and three sons, including Mr Nick Miaoulis of
the Seventeen Shop and Mister Mister in Marsh Harbour.
