NO MORE CLIMBING TREES!
Whenever Bahamians get together in a festive mood, the drink of choice is gin and
coconut water. It's the drink associated with fun and good times. Burns House Limited
has now made it so you don't have to climb a tree to enjoy the favourite drink of
The Bahamas.
During a reception held at Bay View Restaurant, Dundas Town, on 20th March, Gilbey's
Gin with Coconut was introduced to Abaco by Neko C Grant, Senior Vice-President Northern
Bahamas. "It took six years to be perfected," Mr Grant told the invited guests. "Gilbey's Gin is at present the Number Two selling spirit in The Bahamas. With the addition
of Gilbey's with Coconut we firmly expect Gilbey's to be Number One soon!"
The British makers of Gilbey's Gin in London were persuaded by Burns House to produce
a suitable coconut gin after several employees suggested the concept. The project
was spearheaded by Mr Ed Wilchinski, Deputy General Manager & Senior Vice-President.
The right mix came in May 1997. Bahamas Distillers, Nassau, received the ingredients
in October 1997 and, after a market survey to calculate the public response, Gilbey's
Gin with Coconut was ready for distribution in all sizes by Burns House in early
February 1998.
Traditional gin and coconut water is made from gin, the water from full green coconuts,
and condensed milk. Burns House and Gilbey's now reduce the recipe to their new spirit
and your taste in condensed milk diluted with water. No more climbing trees!
Gilbey's Gin With Coconut is available at the Burns House outlets on Don MacKay Boulevard
and Queen Elizabeth Drive, Marsh Harbour, and the Shopping Centre, Treasure Cay,
as well as your local restaurant or bar.
Burns House also suggest you try Bahama Breeze: Gilbey's with Coconut and cranberry
juice. Or Coco Tropical Explosion: Gilbey's with Coconut, pineapple and orange juice.
