25TH ANNIVERSARY OF INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATIONS BEGIN
The Abaco celebration of The Bahamas 25th Anniversary of Independence kicked off with
the Rotary Senior Schools Speech Competition held at Below Decks, Abaco Beach Hotel,
on 24th March. All of the speeches were on 25th Anniversary themes.
In the Junior Secondary Division the results were: 1 Vashti Lachhman (S C Bootle);
2 Austin Mills (S C Bootle); 3 Marcia Sands (MOW). The Senior Secondary results were:
1 Jamie Cash (Forest Heights Academy); 2 Shivani Lachhman (S C Bootle); 3 Leanne
Russell (Forest Heights Academy.
The judges remarked upon the high standard of the presentations and Island Administrator
Everette Hart, who presented the winners with their plaques, said he very impressed.
He wished more adults had been present to enjoy and learn from the speeches.
