ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy Bracey

In late January Royal Palm residents always begin the start of very active social schedules. Owners arrive by the dozens bringing house guests and piles of luggage in preparation for endless dinner parties, rounds of golf and hours of court time. We certainly have the perfect location for all of it! For those of us in residence, however, it is a bit of a shock to go from the dead quiet of early January to the hubbub of the latter part of the month. But not to worry, we soon adjust and enjoy the activity and particularly the renewing of friendships.

Kathleen and Bill Draper kicked off the immigration along with Kathy and James McAllister who soon followed. Nan & George Gregory flew in from Vermilion, Ohio while Diane and Don Gerlach joined us from Fox Chapel. Hagan Peter's daughter, May and her husband Billy Weiss brought friends along all the way from Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Una Galli returned from the Carolinas to spend the entire winter in her newly renovated apartment which is so bright and pretty. The early days of February brought Erika Parker and son Tim as well as with Cathy and Jim Braham and Roger and Angelica Smith who plan to stay for several weeks. We have new owners in unit 2403, Bill and MaryLou Nielsen who hail from Cleveland and Pine Hurst. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Nielsens.

Unfortunately, El Nino has had its effect even as far away as we are from its Pacific Ocean beginnings and has kept us wearing heavy sweaters and turning on heating systems that have been on standby for years. Lest this deter some of you from returning I assure you that, as I write, the weather is balmy, the sun bright and the night sky glowing with a full moon. So join us to spend the winter of '98 at Royal Palm.
