ATLANTIS CHIT-CHAT
by Jean Buchanan
As David and I take our evening stroll along Atlantis boardwalk it's been mighty quiet, windy and cold - and here we are in the middle of February and haven't had a fishing day in 1998. However, Atlantis' Queen arrived on 12th February and instantly we were transformed into a very busy, bustling place. Velma Cooper, one of our former long-time residents, returned for a visit thanks to Jerry and Annie Mansback from Kentucky. They picked Velma up in their wonderful new Queen Air and Brigitte Aebersold from Ontario hosted Velma. Our thanks go to Annie, Jerry and Brigitte!
On Friday 13th we had another wonderful Gourmet Tiki Party. Those in attendance were: Bob & Sally Syme (the ones with the big red plane at the airport); Phil & Jean Read (just returned from three weeks in cold Ontario); Len & Jan Scheponick (Ohio); Dick & Irma Prince; Marge & Ray Pearlson (with guests - we hope they don't tell too many people about our paradise island!); Phil & Sally Cappella (their son and daughter just left. Although they didnÕt get to go deep sea fishing, they did spend some time on the water); and Ira & Linda Freeman. Ira had to leave for a business trip to cold Boston but Linda is staying on to play some more tennis.
Brigitte Aebersold is eagerly awaiting the arrival of her daughter. David and I are also eagerly awaiting the 3rd March arrival of our daughter Kim and her husband Jim, with their twin sons David & Jared. Three years ago I mentioned their birth and they weighed a little over 2 lbs each. Now they are handsome, healthy toddlers. We are very excited to see them on our beaches.
Building #5 is almost filled to capacity. Renzo & Elspeth Simon are here from Switzerland; Bob & Cheryl Finklestein from Massachusetts - a real quick trip; and Keith & Jackie Rusby, Quebec, are here for the month - Keith is a wonderful 'sheller'. Andy & Anne McInroy sailed in the other day on their sailboat. Velma was her same self and we watched some old Tiki Party videos plus Velma and Charlie's 50th Wedding Anniversary on the Treasure Queen. They had 186 people from Treasure Cay. We had trouble recognising and naming some people but it sure was a lot of fun.
Anne & Rick Woodson are expected any day, also Doris Chappell should be arriving at the end of February. Gosh, it sure will be great to see her again. I know it will be another Gourmet Tiki Party!
Those of our Atlantis owners who were not here, we missed you. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Bob & Gerry Giles and Bill & Barbara Marshall. We are praying for you and hope to see you real soon. Join us and have fun in the sun. It's the best place to recuperate. Haste ye back!
