SPELLING BEE

The Grade 8 Spelling Bee held at Church of God, Marsh Harbour, on 8th February much resembled ten-pin bowling, except there were eight pins or competitors. The round one ball came rumbling down and three pins (sorry, contestants) were left standing. The attempt at a spare left one contestant. Two rounds and the competition was over.

Brittany Benjamin of Forest Heights Academy seemed somewhat bemused to be declared the winner so early. Her teachers had promised her much more competition. But there it was. Second came Antonia Wright of Central Abaco Primary School and third (after a few rounds knock-out with Antonia) came Ashley Knowles of Forest Heights Academy.

Congratulations to all who took part. Perhaps in future competitions the first rounds should not have the disparity of simple five-letter words for some competitors and more complicated nine-letter words for others.
