MARSH HARBOUR VOLUNTEER FIREMAN'S ASSOCIATION
Last month we promised to bring you an update on the donations drive on behalf of
the Marsh Harbour Fireman's Association by Colyn Rees. To recap, Colyn Rees discovered
to his dismay that the volunteer firemen were performing their excellent service
to the community with a subsidy of a mere $200 a month for gasoline. Also, their equipment
was antiquated and in need of repair.
Colyn Rees set off around Marsh Harbour and explained the position to his friends
and local businessmen. He started the drive with a substantial contribution of his
own. Within a month he had deposited over $25,000 to the Association's account, the
equivalent of ten years gasoline subsidy.
The Volunteer Fireman's Association is extremely grateful to all those who contributed
so generously, and to Colyn Rees who performed such a valuable service in bringing
the plight of the Association to the general public.
