COMMUNICATIONS TO THE EDITOR

Dear Editor,

I just found your site. It is fantastic...

From: KentB59575@postoffice.worldnet.att.net

The Abaco Journal recently received seven different 'covering copy' e-mails from Abaco users of BaTelNet to complain about service. Due to space and the repetitiveness that would occur by printing all, here is one that is representative of the complaints:

Dear Editor,

To: dolan@grouper.batelnet.bs

I am not usually one to complain but frankly, BaTelNets' internet service in Abaco stinks.

When I am able to log on, 90% of the time it S-L-O-W and I am bumped off
within 15 minutes. Most of the time I cannot log on at all, getting a
"circuits down" busy signal. However, I can prefix your access number with 1-242 and get on. (Very slick; the customer pays through the nose for
BaTelCo's unreliable and expensive internet service, and still has to pay
for an overseas call to get his/her e-mail.) Alternatively, I get a recorded
"We're sorry your call cannot be completed as dialed ." You're SORRY alright!

BaTelNet had better thank God that they are the only game in town. As it
stands now, if another ISP were to begin operations in Abaco, BaTelNet would have ZERO subscribers

I have used BaTelNet at family and friends' homes and businesses in Nassau and Freeport. There, I have found your service to be fast and stable, VERY unlike here in Abaco.

Sir, what I would like to know is WHY are BaTelNet subscribers here in Abaco experiencing such terrible service. I have been hearing about the 300 new modems that are being installed in Freeport. Why cannot they be installed here in Abaco, since Abaco is were the problem is. I have also gotten the techno gobbledy-gook runaround from BatelNet.

VERY VERY frustrated in Abaco!
