AN ABACO MYSTERY
by Erica Asselin

In late October 1997 my husband, son and I met the Duke of Topsail at the port in Marsh Harbour to pick up a truck and cargo we had driven from Alberta, Canada, to West Palm Beach and shipped over. On top of one of the large plywood packing crates we had was a framed water-colour painting, done by my late mother. Somehow, after taking it out for the customs inspection, we failed to re-pack it with the other removed items.

Nearly three weeks later we finally unpacked the crates at our home in Sandy Point and realised that my precious painting was missing. We returned to the port and, with the aid of the customs people, searched high and low for it to no avail.

My hope is that someone found it. It is approximately 18"x24" with a simple wood frame and glass front. It depicts a winter scene with a small snow-covered cabin or shed. The signature is either "Mollie Horn" or just "Horn". If anyone has seen my painting, please call me at 366-4141 or the Abaco Journal at 367-2580.
