TOURIST OFFICE UPDATE

Mr Alan Tomlinson, producer of the New York Times television series Science Times and crew were on Abaco from 5th to 8th May to produce a documentary about Dr Ken Balcomb's research on beaked whales for National Geographic's cable channel. The crew stayed at Pete and Gaye's Guest House in Sandy Point.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force (Abaco District) held its annual Police Ball on Friday 4th May at the Abaco Beach Resort. The Honourable C A Smith represented the Prime Minister as the keynote speaker. The ball was well attended and entertainment was provided by the world famous Royal Bahamas Police Force Pop Band.
Fourteen participants in the International Partners Conference held in Freeport, Grand Bahama, visited Abaco from 12th to 14th May. They were greeted at Treasure Cay by Wynsome Ferguson of the Abaco Tourist Office. Lynn June, marketing manager, gave them a site inspection of the Treasure Cay Hotel followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. Chris the Burner provided entertainment for the evening. Next day the group went over the Green Turtle Cay for breakfast and site inspection. Some members of the group stayed over and enjoyed Different of Abaco, Abaco Beach Resort and Abaco Inn. Donnajeane Turnquest, Bahamas Out Islands Promotions Board and Jeremy Bonnet, General, BTO London, headed this group.
Water's Edge magazine, an award-winning coastal lifestyle publication based in Jacksonville, Florida, selected three private residences located in Marsh Harbour and Hope Town as locations for architectural photo shoots, which took place 13th-18th May. The three homes are to be included in a multi-page feature on island homes owned by Jacksonville residents.
