BETTER DRIVING CONDITIONS

Two recent initiatives have made driving in Treasure Cay and north Abaco much safer. Visitors to Treasure Cay this spring would have noted with pleasure the new speed bumps. Unlike previous speed bumps which caused damage to golf carts even at walking speed, the new speed bumps allow golf carts and cars to ease onto a plateau without any danger of scraping at low speed.

The second initiative makes night driving in north Abaco much safer and may very well save lives. Major road bends have been fitted with cat’s eye reflectors in the centre line thanks to Kendal Colebrooke, Jeffrey Cooper and the Ministry of Works.

Earlier this year Jeffrey Cooper of Coopers Town begged Kendal Colebrooke, owner of Auto Styles in Freeport, for the cat’s eyes. Mr Colebrooke is a frequent visitor to north Abaco and was on the island when two fatal accidents occurred. Mr Cooper went to Freeport and took possession of the reflectors and the Ministry of Works installed them. Congratulations to all involved.
