ROYAL PALM FRONDS
by Betsy
Bracey
It is December 15th as I write, only seven days short of the
official start of winter and ten days before Christmas. Weather reports show
central and western United States under a blanket of snow and accompanied by
fierce winds while Abaco lies under a blanket of sunshine with just enough
breeze to make sailing a pleasure. It always surprises me that more owners
aren't in residence at this time of the year.
Richard Actis-Grande has
been here for some time, however. Mort & Kay Kaplan recently arrived as
did Claudia and Peppino Campi. Both will soonhave their family joining them
for the holidays. Joyce Turpin is back from her wonderful stay in Europe and
Lorna and Bill Firstbrook have returned to put finishing touches on their condo.
Although not new to Royal Palm they have a new address, 2301. Edwin Pearlstine
is with us for a short while and Salli and Bill Schiffmacher are here and still
planting and painting while Woody returned in early November from our remarkable
stay in Italy followed by a family reunion in Park City where 15 of us gathered
for skiing and Thanksgiving dinner.
We regret the passing of Dr. Hagen
Peters, who with his son Hagen, a Royal Palm director, was an original owner
and extend our sympathy to Dr. Peters' wife, Alice, to his children Susanne and
Hagen and to all members of his family. He was a vital, versatile and most
interesting gentleman and will be sorely missed.
We look forward to
seeing more owners during the holiday and send greetings to those who will be
celebrating in far off places with our wish that you have a safe and joyous
season and soon return to your beautiful 'island'.
