NEW TREASURE CAY HOTEL
An announcement is expected very soon on the construction of a new $50 million, 175-room hotel in Treasure Cay on the site of the old hotel. According to Ralph Sanchez, chairman of Abaco Resorts Ltd, a major American hotel chain will operate the upscale resort and it is expected that some 200 to 300 people, mostly Bahamians, will be employed full time. A similar number of workers would be involved in the construction phase.
It should be noted, however, that the Treasure Cay Hotel Resort and Marina operates as a separate entity and its operations will not be affected by the new development.
