PASSINGS...

ROBERT LUCIEN STRATTON

Funeral services for Robert Lucien Stratton, 82, were held at Bible Truth Hall, Marsh Harbour, on 23rd December. Bro John McNeil officiated, assisted by Bro Greg Roberts. Interment followed in Marsh Harbour Public Cemetery. Present at the funeral were Prime Minister the Right Honourable Hubert Ingraham, Parliamentary Secretaryto the Prime Minister's Office Mike Smith, and Acting Commissioner of Police Paul Farquarson.

Mr Stratton was pre-deceased by his wife Euphemia (23rd May 2000) and son Robert Van Stratton (28th March 2000). He is survived by his daughters Amarylis Key and Astrid Stratton; grandchildren Randy, Al, Ian, Liann and April; and great-grandchildren Alistair, Robert, Amy, Lonnie and Avery.

Mr Stratton was a World War II United States veteran, recipient of the British Empire Medal, and a retired dentist serving numerous islands within The Bahamas during his working years.

MICHAEL NATHAN ROLLE

Funeral services for Michael Nathan Rolle, 38, were held at St Ann's Anglican Church, Crown Haven, on 6th January. Officiating was Fr Kenneth McKenzie assisted by Catechist Christopher Russell. Interment followed at Crown Haven Public Cemetary.

Mr Rolle is survived by his wife, Carol Jane; four children, Alphonso, Jessica, Kheera and Michael; grandmother, Helen Russell; three sisters, Millicent Edgecombe, Beulah McDonald and Carnetta Johnson; three brothers, James, Fred and Collins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

BERTRAM JOSEPH RECKLEY

Funeral services for Bertram Joseph Reckley Sr were held on 6th January at St Peter's Anglican Church, Green Turtle Cay. Officiating was Fr McKenzie assisted by Rev Charles Carey. Interment followed at the Public Cemetery, Green Turtle Cay.

His survivors include wife, Jennie; one son, Joe; four daughters, Valerie Thompson, Susan Jones, Maureen Reckley Gibson and Sarah Reckley Roberts; three brothers, George Leroy and Leon Reckley; two sisters, Adeline McIntosh and Roberta Russell; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

After going to sea for many years 'Uncle Bert', as he was fondly known, worked at the Other Shore Club. He concentrated on and operated his own business which allowed him more time to make daily fishing trips to catch a fresh meal of fish, some of which he always sent to his children, relatives and friends in Nassau. He proved to be the finest example of a devoted husband, father and friend.
