NAKIA HENRIC PARKER

Funeral services were held for Nakia Henric Parker, 26, of Forest Drive on 20th June at Zion Baptist Church, Murphy Town. Rev A B Lewis officiated and interment was in Murphy Town Public Cemetery.

Mr Parker is survived by his parents, Jonathan and Enamae Parker; one bother, Kenneth; two sisters, Shandalene and Jonette; grandmothers, Christine Simms and Inez Gaitor, and a host of other relatives and friends.

RONALD McKINNEY

Funeral services for Ronald McKinney, 64, of Sandy Point were held on 20th June at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Sandy Point. Rev Napoleon Roberts and other ministers officiated. Interment was in Sandy Point Public Cemetery.

Mr McKinney is survived by his wife, Rose; two sisters, Louise Saunders and Jennie Johnson, and many other relatives and friends.

ROSCOW NAPIER PYFROM

Roscow Pyfrom, 73, Chairman of the Board of FamGuard Corporation and its subsidiary, The Family Guardian Insurance Company, died in hospital on 28th June following a stroke at his home on 26th June.

Mr Pyfrom, along with A R Jack Knowles and Norbert F Boissiere, founded Family Guardian Insurance Company in 1965. Mr Pyfrom served as its president until 1983 when he was named chairman of Family Guardian and FamGuard Corporation.

An active member of Christ Church Cathedral, Mr Pyfrom had served on several committees for the Anglican Diocese. In 1994, the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce named him "Businessman of the Year".

Speaking on behalf of the company, Chairman Emeritus and executive director of Family Guardian, Jack Knowles, said: "We are shocked and saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague, and we extend our deepest sympathy to Mr Pyfrom's wife, Hazel, his daughters Charlotte, Rosalie, Frances and Catherine, and his family. All of us at Family Guardian have been enriched by our relationship with this outstanding individual. Mr Pyfrom's vision, astute business sense and keen understanding of human nature have been invaluable to the growth of the company. As chairman he strove to ensure that Family Guardian was prepared for the future through continuity of strong leadership both at the Board and executive management levels. His kindness and generosity touched many lives in the community; he helped make us all more aware of the natural beauty of our country. He will be keenly missed by all who knew him, and particularly by his extended family here at our company."

ISABELLA McINTOSH LARODA

Funeral services for Isabella McIntosh LaRoda, 70, were held at Church of God Auditorium, Nassau, on 5th July. Officiating was Bishop Archelius Cooper.

Formerly of Coopers Town, Mrs LaRoda is survived by her husband, Shervin LaRoda; one son, Rt Hon Hubert Ingraham, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas; one daughter, Genevieve McIntosh; brother, Leon Cornish; eight grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

MARGOT K JOHNSTON

Margot K Johnston, 89, of Little Harbour, Abaco, passed away 4th July while visiting her niece Kay Owens in Sebastian FL.

Mrs Johnston was the widow of artist and sculptor Randolph Johnston and is survived by one daughter, Marina; three sons, William, Paul (Denny) and Peter; four grandchildren, Michele Lincoln, Michael, Greg and Tyler Johnston; and two great-grandchildren, Maxine and Alex Lincoln.

JOSEPH VALENTINE DARVILLE

Funeral services for Joseph Darville, 42, were held at Mount Zion Church, Sandy Point, on 11th July. Officiating was Rev Napoleon Roberts assisted by Fr Hugh Chapman. Interment was in Sandy Point Public Cemetery.

Mr Darville is survived by his wife, Annie Darville; son, Joseph Darville Jr; two daughters, Sherville and Joniece; two stepsons, Rick and Mick Davis; mother, Alice Darville; four brothers, Henry, Nelson, Lincoln and Kenneth Darville; one sister, Lena Burrows; and many other relatives and friends.
