The Treasure Cay Billfish Tournament held its awards night 27th June at the Spinnaker Restaurant in Treasure Cay. 35 boats participated, the winning boat being Aqua Mist. Samuel Gardiner, chief of staff, and Don Cornish attended the presentation.
Abaco Beach Resort & Boat Harbour hosted the family version of the annual HMY Fishing Tournament awards night 27th June at the Pavilion, Abaco Beach Resort.
The Bahamas Beach BBQ Fly In took place 3rd-6th July. A total of 13 planes participated in this event and attracted some 40 people who flew into Treasure Cay where they were met by Wynsome Ferguson of the Abaco Tourist Office. The group was hosted to a welcome cocktail reception by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism the first evening and Treasure Cay Beach Resort the following evening. Greg Rolle, aviation specialist and Bahamas Ministry of Tourism Miami, escorted the group.
Regatta Time in Abaco began in Green Turtle Cay on 4th July with some 65 boats participating. The event attracted some 1,200 people to Abaco and concluded on 11th July with the Awards Dinner at the Jib Room, Marsh Harbour. Ruth Saunders was the coordinator of the event and Wynsome Ferguson assisted on the Ministry of Tourism’s behalf.
