AUGUST, COME IT MUST

An old Bahamian mnemonic verse about hurricanes runs: June, soon; July, stand by; August, come it must; September, remember; October, all over. We are all more wary after Hurricane Floyd in 1999 and this hurricane season has been predicted to be above average in activity.

Disaster Preparedness Committees in north, south and central Abaco have been working to establish shelters for use in emergencies. The following will be used as hurricane shelters:
