ATLANTIS CHIT-CHAT
by Jean Buchanan

Atlantis has been unusually quiet this year. Our neighbours are late in coming and few boats have been leaving the docks. However, this past month things really picked up - Bob & Gerry Giles finally returned. It was good to see their car and golf cart uncovered. Rick and Ann Woodson were also late arrivals. Unfortunately they had a bit of a problem with Lezz Go.
(See message following this article - Rick & Ann said it all.)

Building #2 is well fortified. Len & Jan Scheponick are here. Jan walks and paddles all over Treasure Cay. It's great to see her doing so well. Phil & Jean Read are also in residence and I can't blame them for spending the winter in Treasure Cay - it's mighty cold in Canada. That's why Pat Bell stays down south. Richard and Irma Prince are happy to be here and not in Michigan where it's very cold too. Alida & Fred Hosack have enjoyed some great sailing weather. They also won a prize at the Sand Bank Yacht Club Pirates' Party. My David won a prize for best pirate. I don't know if it was because of his hook or his singing with Milt Fehrenbach in the background!

Building #3 has Phil & Sally in residence. Phil still manages to get in a lot of fishing. Few of our eager fishing people have ventured out this year. El Niño is still creating cool and windy weather with rough seas. We were very happy to see Andrea Brown and her daughter visit. It's been two years since her last visit. Andrea, we are so happy to see you looking so well. Next year we'll call you Grandmom!

Building #4 was very, very busy. Tom & Linda Eisenbraun came for a quick stay. Brigitte Aebersold just returned to Toronto. Bob Kolk is here helping Moxey Williams with the church addition. Robert Drouin was finally able to leave Montreal. Claude & Robert had to change residence five times due to lack of electricity and water after the monster ice storm. Paula Milanesi MD managed a couple of weeks in the sun but had to return to Italy sooner than expected due to a flu outbreak. Haste ye back, Paula!

BUILDING #4 was also occupied by our daughter Kimberly and husband James Keyes along with three year old twins David & Jared. Our thanks to friends for beach toys and Judy beck for the Red Wagon. It sure made for a lot of fun. I think we wore a lot of rubber from the tyres going to and from the beach twice daily. Lorenzo & Elspeth Simen are still enjoying the sun. Elspeth gave the twins lots of Swiss chocolate - maybe that's why they had so much energy! Keith & Jackie Rusby just returned to Canada. they have plans to travel in South Africa and visit their daughter in Australia. Happy travelling! The big sailboat in the middle of our bay belongs to Anne & Andy McInroy and it's called Raggedy Us.....!

Sharon Heinzroth is here enjoying the sun. Last, but certainly not least, another Atlantis Queen has returned. It's been two years but Doris Chappell arrived accompanied by her niece Jennifer. Doris, we sure are happy to see you. Don't stay away so long next time!

My David, Jim and I ventured out for a deep sea fishing trip recently. It was very rolly and rough but we did catch some grouper which we enjoyed for dinner. Haste ye back, all of you!

OPEN LETTER TO ATLANTIS RESIDENTS AND OTHER FRIENDS

Ann and I would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to each and every one of you who pitched in and took us under your wings during our ordeal when LEZZ GO flipped in our slip on 3rd March. Your kindness, genuine concern and TLC is unprecedented, which we will always remember.

Most of you know how much boat owners are obsessed with our charges. We were devastated until help arrived with assurance. Brian and Sinclair were first on the scene with equipment (Sinclair hopped into the canal) joining you great neighbours in the effort. After rigging, supervising, Robert's Scuba skills, elbow grease, praying and a falling tide, she was towed from the slip on to Roberts Marine by 3..30 pm. That was some achievement!

Again, our utmost thanks for your friendship, compassion and unselfish will to support a friend in need...

God bless all of you,

Rick and Ann Woodson.

PS Jimmy Roberts and Daren Roberts have been super. Jimmy plans to have us lezz-going by 11th March. (How's that for being accommodating!)
