To attribute all unhappy experiences at the Abaco Inn to the rudeness of the "tourist" is simply unfair. Dissatisfaction with the Abaco Inn is not an isolated experience, as my group was very disappointed by our treatment in April as well. In this case, the blame should be placed on management, and not on our alleged rudeness. After booking 2 oceanfront rooms for a 1-night stay after our sailing charter, paying a large deposit, and confirming and re-confirming the reservation by e-mail and phone, we arrived to an unpleasant surprise. Oceanfront rooms were not available to us, and the room my husband and I got was not even on the ocean-side of the road, but back near what appeared to be utility areas of the Inn (work shed, trash collection); in fact, if I were to guess, it looked like staff quarters. The other room our group got didn't have any view except of the unit in front of them. It turned out that with the ownership change, the Abaco Inn was no longer letting oceanfront rooms to one-night visitors, and indeed had begun charging a surcharge for one-night visits. But no one told us this when we re-confirmed our reservations. We did (very calmly, I might add) request and receive a discount, but the experienced tainted our stay -- a much anticipated stay, as I'd always viewed the Abaco Inn as a gorgeous spot I'd really like to stay; instead, I got a view of a wrecked yacht, with an air-compressor running to pump out the water (it was half-sunk). I'm sure most people who stay at the Abaco Inn have a lovely experience, but don't accuse those of us who were disappointed as being the cause of our disappointment.
