Crystal- While I do understand your consternation about the board contents, I DO think this was an appropriate forum for *concerned citizens* to BEGIN airing their views. And the majority of them have done so in a mature way. Better here than at Nippers. A mob mentality is a mob mentality . . . whether on 42nd Street in New York or on the Abacos. No good can come of anger-inflamed people confronting alcohol-inflamed people (or vice versa)-- except testing the speed and skills of the local Emergency Services. I have never been to Nippers so I can't-- and won't-- comment on that situation. But in my senior year of college, I lived next to a fraternity house. I love a good party as much as the next person, but when things got dangerously out of hand, I felt a need to speak up. My neighbors, who confronted the faternity house, were physically attacked. When I complained to the police, I was told to contact them only if a specific crime was being committed at that exact moment. I did, but they stopped when police cars arrived. All this served to do was create a seige-mentality that pitted neighbor against neighbor. And, believe me, no one won. My point is that I support the local citizens' rights to be heard because that opens the dialogue . . . people cannot address a problem TOGETHER until both sides know that a problem exists. I realize that this post may seem over-simplistic, even childish, but people have to start somewhere. May as well be ground zero. Respect, Lisa
