There's no tourist type of Dolphin encounter. My wife and I snorkeled with Froggies on Great Guana Cay. While boating out to Fowl Cay, we ran across a large pod of 35+ dolphins and one small babe, about 2 feet long. The dive master stopped the boat and we shot great videos of them feeding in the Sea of Abaco. We couldn't snorkel, though, because of the calf. The male dolphins are very protective of their offspring. So, you may encounter dolphins by accident. At Coco Beach we talked with a local man who has several homes on Great Guana. He told us how in-between two cays, when the tide was running out, a pod of dolphins scooted over the rocks to get back to the Atlantic side. Several of their members tried, but couldn't make it over the rocks. They were half in and half out of the water, trying to scoot over the rock as the tide got even lower. Finally, the pod half that made it across to the Atlantic side never left and stayed and chatted back and forth with the remaining members stuck, temporarily, in the Sea of Abaco side. It was literally a spiritual experience, as he named it. Years ago, my wife and I saw dolphins in the boat marina at the Conch Inn. They gently swam around the dingies coming in from the yatchs. You just never know when or where you'll see dolphins in Abaco. Perhaps, your fiance would like to visit the Ocean Mammal researchers on Abaco. Robert
