Mark,

We have chartered for the past 4 years from Florida Yacht in Boat Harbour. Since Hurricane Floyd they have been operating out of Sea Spray Marina in White Sound. Florida Yacht charters a much newer version of the Mainship 35, which is a 2 stateroom layout(the second stateroom is very small). Abacos Bahamas Charters has the Mainship 34. To compare the two by looks and layout, you can go to the Mainship website at www.mainship.com/mainship/maintrawlpg.html for a layout of the 35 footer (now dubbed the 390). I don't think they have the 34 trawler layout, as it has been out of production for some time, but you can see the boat on Abaco Bahamas Charters web site. Also Abacos Bahamas Charters web site is www.abacocharters.com and Florida Yacht is www.floridayacht.com .

Now, with all that said, please keep in mind that I have not chartered thru Abaco Bahamas Charters so I cannot say anything good or bad about them. However, in the years I have gone to the Abacos, I have not found anyone I would not do business with. My comments are only due to my experience with Florida Yacht and have some knowledge of the two different boats.

Please email directly to me, rholleman@mindspring.com , for more details on bareboating a trawler in the Abacos. I would be glad to help with suggestions on where to go, what to see, what to bring, etc.

Again, anyone reading this please remember that I am in no way dissing Abaco Bahamas Charters. Anyone with experience with them and the Mainship that they charter please post your experience. Also, I am not pushing Florida Yacht. While I enjoy doing business with them, I am sure they are not without making mistakes.
