Hi. Justin - A friend of mine has an Iridium phone over here at GTC and the performance is only so -so. The biggest problem is dialing -- it's very difficult for the average user. You have to use the international format. The Bahamian phone company (Batelco - in all it's wisdom) has put a block on the Iridium system Identifier in the dialing codes (8816) so you can't dial an Iridium phone from within the Bahamas. The voice Quality is OK, - not great- just OK. There is a problem with loss of signal as the "bird " passes out of range and "hands off" to the next "bird". The system works, but not very well and is not at all user friendly. I have a another friend on a sail boat who just got an Inmar Sat type phone that cost him $995.00 (that's right) and $1.19 a minute. He says it works great! Only a slight delay in the conversation (geo-stationary). Give me a call or drop me a line (E-mail) if you need any more info. By the way, most of the phones in the White Sound area of GTC came on Yesterday at about 2 pm. We're on the new 200 pair cable that the've been installing since about the middle of November. The one that should have been installed 5 or 6 years ago. What can I say?! Charlie
