Well, needless to say, it was wonderful. Everything is so green and what really caught my eye was the rose bushes and bougainvilla (sp?)- just pushing out those blooms like crazy! Every place is very clean. Lots of places open in the out islands. Marsh is running low on places to eat while everyone is still repairing, but we did get to eat at Sapodillys with the "charming and debonair" Phil - what a piece of work! Man=o=war looked beautiful as always with very little evident damage except for the very large mast attached to a sunken sailboat in the harbour. Guana (where we stayed) looked just wonderful. Got to meet Milo and Abacogirl. Every place open except Guana Beach Resort which is in the process of being sold per the grapevine. But, it was cleaned up and you would never know there was a fire. Dolphin Beach sustained such minimal damage, you would again never know what had transpired. Nancy and Bruce have done such a wonderful job and the food was so wonderfully excellent that I gained 5lbs! Spent lots of time with Tom and Maria at Coco Paradise. Great place, friendliest bartender in Abaco, excellent food and always something fun going on (usually Tom - christened as St. Thomas by a group from Louisiana/South Carolina). As you have read, got to meet the infamous HiTide, Mrs. HiTide and the Jr. HiTides. Was great fun to share a taxi with them. Also had the pleasure to meet Sinclair and Barbara - our webmasters (and headmaster?) An excellent, friendly and hugable couple. It was windy as hell while we there - locals say that wind has been blowing since the storms. Was surprised to hear that Irene was much worse for the Abacos than reported on US news reports (imagine that!.....)Lots of building and big plans going on in Guana. New restaurant/bar being built on the Sea of Abaco by DOlphin Beach docks. Also, two other restuarants in the works that we know of. Real estate market is crazy. Well, need to sign off now. Will post next report when my brain clears some more......back to 16
